Fun in the Sun

We recently had a really fun primary activity. We did games like water balloon toss, 3-legged races and gunny sack races. We also made homemade ice-cream in a sandwhich bag, it turned out really good. Cade's favorite part was the gunny sack races. The sack was so big that it could have fit his whole body in it, but that didn't stop him. Amazingly enough he was actually pretty good at it.

Our Baby Birds

The rest of the eggs have hatched in the nest, and Ashlie loves to see how big the birds get each day. The nest looks like a nest with a whole mess of feathers in it, so it is hard to say if all 6 eggs survived, but we can see at least three heads and beaks.

Isaac, The Big Boy

Okay, so Isaac isn't big. At five months he is weighing in at just under 12 pounds, but he has now hit a new phase in his life. Solid foods. He had his first experience with oatmeal the other day. Needless to say he didn't like it too well, but now is a pro, and we are hoping this may help with the deliquent weight gain. If we all could be so lucky. I would love to eat every 3 hours and not gain weight.

Our First Baby Bird

Here is a picture of the first baby bird of 7 eggs in our backyard nest. It hatched one day, was kicked out of the nest the next day, and I am sad to say is no longer living. We figure that this egg must have been from another bird, because the egg was a different size and color. The parents must have realized it too, and kicked the bird out of the nest. We will keep you all updated on the progress of the remaining 6 eggs.

Who do they look like?

I saw this cool thing on my sister's blog, and I thought I would give it a try. So my results were about as exciting as hers. Both Ashlie and Isaac look equally like both of us. Who knew? Cade however does look more like his dad. I guess when people say he is a mini Dan, they are in some way right, or so this test says so.

Cars, Cars, and more Cars

Cade has found a recent love for cars. He wakes up first thing in the morning and runs to his container of cars. He picks out two, and can usually be seen for the rest of the day holding a car in each hand.

The Zoo

We took a trip to the local zoo last week. We went for Ashlie's last day of preschool and the kids had a blast. Cade was so excited to go to a zoo, as he has never been to one before, that all morning he walked around saying, "animals, animals." They especially loved the huge slide
that is in the
shape of a giraffe, and you slide down it's neck, and the penguins. Another highlight of the day was the carousel that they got to take a ride on, sorry I was on the ride too, so no pics.

Our Prima Ballerina

Ashlie had her first ever ballet recital on Saturday. She had so much fun this year taking ballet, and it was so fun to see her dance. She did such a good job. It was fun to have some family here to see her dance as well. She is our Prima Ballerina.

Baby Birds

For one, I cannot remember a time that I have actually seen a real bird's nest with eggs inside, but now I have one just outside my back door. For Mothers Day, Dan and the kids gave me an amazing hanging flower basket for my back patio. A few days after that I noticed that there were birds that kept on flying in and out of it. Sure enough they had chosen our flowers for their new home. At first there were no eggs in the nest and Ashlie kept on saying she hoped that soon there would be. Her wish came true. The nest started out with only 2 eggs, but now has 6 eggs inside. It will be cool when these eggs hatch. Ashlie can't wait. For now I guess we will just enjoy the constant chirping we can hear outside our window.
