The Candy Keeper

When Dan is gone for an extended period of time he brings home a treat for the kids. Bribery for the kids to behave for their dear mother, because sometimes they need a little motivation. Dan just spent 10 days away from home and brought them some delicious treats (if you didn't know we love treats at our house). In the past only the two older kids benefited from this tradition, but he decided to bring candy home to Isaac as well. Below is a picture of Isaac at breakfast (please ignore the very "nutritious" breakfast he was eating that morning, but 10 days without a husband meant that grocery shopping did not get done). He sat there holding onto his candy with all of his might, and not really interested in eating breakfast (which as you can tell by the size of the kid, is NOT normal). He didn't ask to eat the candy, but if I had to guess, I think he was afraid that it wasn't really his and if he let go of it, he wouldn't get it back. Yes, he spent the whole morning carrying it around. He was the happiest kid on the block, and isn't he the cutest little chubby kid you ever did see?

Jones Family Carnival

Ashlie was not able to go to her school carnival because Dan was out of town and I was too scared to try and take all three kids by myself. Isaac in a stroller screaming, "go" (he now thinks he can do everything the other kids can do), Cade running around amongst tons of people and Ashlie just wanting to enjoy the carnival didn't sound like a good combination to me, so we had our own carnival at our house. Our carnival included games like, score against mommy, cucumber float, car races, bean bag tosses, air balloons, bowling, pin the tail on the doggy, and you can't have a carnival without a fish pond. They each earned tickets for each game played based on how well they did, and at the end traded in their tickets for prizes. They even got to eat at the Jenny concession stand, complete with cupcakes, popcorn, pop and cookies. Who could ask for more, right?
